Grace Jones, what a name huh?! In the words of Michelle Obama–Grace Jones was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago, Englewood to be exact.

Back in the day with the Great Migration, there weren’t many neighborhoods Black people could select in which to live. Bridgeport was a no, as was Marquette Park. Grace grew up with her siblings, attended and excelled at DuSable High School and continued on to Chicago Teachers College.

CTC started as a leaky railroad boxcar and later became the ‘Teachers Training School.’ Over the next 150 years Chicago Teachers College transformed into Chicago State University! After graduation Ms Grace interviewed, and was hired in 1953, at Commonwealth Edison. Here is where her story begins…
